A
I had booked this hotel with mixed feelings, having read some very good, and some bad review about the hotel.
I travelled to Manchester with two other friends for the weekend, for Manchester United’s first game of the season against Reading.
Luckily I knew about the trams being cancelled for a month, during our time there so we just got a taxi from Piccadilly Station to the hotel. (£8)
We arrived late on the Friday night and the young girl at reception was more than helpful and even gave us some takeaway menus for something too eat (pizza express the best deal...brought to the room). We had booked a triple room at a great price of 30GBP per person per night with breakfast. The room was an "executive Double with a double sofa bed".
I was very impressed with the room, and indeed the facilities. Free water; satellite TV (with sky sports), power shower, bathrobe, towel rail heater. The beds were very soft, some may say too soft, but it didn't bother me.
We had pre booked Breakfast and there were plenty to choose from, but were very busy on match days. I wouldn’t have paid £12.50 thought for it, as that was the price if you hadn’t pre paid.
All in all we had a very nice stay. The hotel is SECONDS away from Old Trafford; we even had a view of the stadium from our room. The girls on reception were very helpful.
Hotel Rated at Four Star I would say that’s about right. Wouldn’t mind a swimming pool, but you can’t have everything.
Happy with: Door security tight, especially on match days, very pleased to see.
If anyone wants to know anything else just ask.
THINGS TO DO:
Visit Manchester City Centre + the Trafford Centre
Things to Miss:
Lowry Outlet Mall.

"The room was excellent, clean, comfortable."
We were pleasantly suprised with the Golden Tulip Manchester Hotel which is unrated but advertised as a standard/3 star property. The location for Manchester United is perfect, on the doorstep and the staff were very friendly and professional. The room was excellent, clean, comfortable. |

Excellent hotel
This is a very friendly hotel and although undergoing refurbishment during my stay, it did not detract from the quality of the stay. Excellent value for money and great if you need to be near Old Trafford. |

Excellent hotel
Excellent hotel. Clean, modern, airy, spacious. Close to Old Trafford if you are a football fan or cricket fan. Not much else in the neighbourhood but a decent Wetherspoons a short walk away. Excellent value through GTA. I was well pleased with this deal and a number of other colleagues have booked too. |

"Good value"
This hotel represented good value when booked online but I wouldn't pay full rate for it. Stayed there during September 2004 and although the hotel was full it wasn't noisy and there was adequate free parking. There wasn't a game on at Old Trafford (directly across the road) so I can imagine it might be noisier/ busier on match weekends.
Staff were friendly and helpful, rooms were clean though showing signs of wear. The nearest tram stop (Salford Quays) was a 10 minute walk through an industrial estate - not many people around late at night so be careful if you're travelling alone. Taxi fare into town was around £8. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay and were happy to be away from all of the hen/ stag nights that we saw going into the less expensive hotels in the centre of town!

"Great location for Manchester United football club"
A modern, clean hotel. Rooms are spacious. Bar a little smokey & service can be slow especially on match days. Food at the Gary Rhodes restaurant is of the highest standard & reasonably priced. The hotels location for any Man Utd fan is a must, the ground is literally 50 metres away from the hotel. Connections into the City are good from Salford Quays tram stop which is a 5 minute walk away. |
