"good choice"
Brilliant location and the best service you expect from a 4 star hotel. The facade is splendid and cordial staff :-) The lobby is large and modernly decorated like the rooms. I had heard that the breakfast is the best in the north west before I go so it was :-) Large rooms offer many places to walk and clean bathrooms. My first trip to Manchester was very lovely so I am thinking to go back as soon as. |

Rex Melville, Physician
Having booked a winter weekend at the restored Palace in Central Manchester,I was greatly impressed by it's imposing, modern foyer and the huge clean, stylish room I was offered on the 3rd floor.
Having booked a single room, and reading some less-than-complimentary reviews of the hotel, I was expecting the worst but got only the best!
The reception staff were always bright and helpful and the service excellent, but I imagine I had been upgraded automatically to a double room,so can't really vouch for the small, cheaper rooms(which may be on the lower ground floors).
Despite the fittings and carpets in the landings and corridors being a hideous clashing cacaphony of patterns and styles, the total effect nevertherless adds up to a ride through fairyland whenever you leave your room. As the hotel has retained many of its original rococo and high Victorian features, but spruced them up,I found the whole experience delightful!
And as breakfast was included,I could hardly complain at that either.. |

"It was Stunning"
I booked this hotel through the internet about three months ago without reading any reviews. Once I'd read the reviews I felt that i'd made a big mistake. I rang the hotel straight away and expressed my concerns and the lady knew exactly what I had read and she booked us into a contemporary room. When we checked in our room wasn't ready but we had been given another contemporary room and we were told that if we weren't happy they would give us another room. We walked into the room and my boyfriend and I both stood there and said WOW. The decor was stunning, the furniture was all brand new and very contemporary. The room was spacious and very light and airy.
The room was a little cold in the evening when we returned and was quite noisy but that didn't bother us too much. We parked in the NCP car park down the road which was a bit of a worry at first but it was fine.
I would recommend this hotel to any of my family or friends but ask for a contemporary room and you should be very happy, we will return.

"What a transformation!"
The Palace is no longer an ugly duckling but a Swan.
The hotel now has fabulous rooms and decor but the staff need a little team building.
This is the rising star in the North West and I will be using it again

"An Excellent Choice"
Recently attended a conference at the hotel and all i can say it way exceeded all my expectations. The hotel is in the old Refuge Assurance building recently converted into a hotel.
On entering the main entrance there is a wow factor in the reception area, lots of stone and marble and a fantastic stained glass roof. The main Tempus bar is very trendy, they offer light snacks of excellent quality.
My room was one of there contempory rooms, very nicely furnished, excellent bathroom and everything worked and looked new.
The concierge obtained table reservations in a couple of trendy restaurants and to be honest i had nothing but praise for all the staff. My only comment would be is it takes the telephone operator a long time to answer both when calling from external and internal numbers.
I would highly recomend the Palace

"Is this the Same Hotel"
We stayed at the Palace Nov 4th - 5th.
From the time we first approached the reception desk to the time we checked out, We were treated with upmost care and attention. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff.
The room was fantastic, very clean and spacious.
Bathroom facilities were excellent.
The breakfast was excellent, all you can eat buffet with copious amounts of Tea and toast available.
I wonder if half the people writing bad reports about this hotel actually have stayed here.
Would recommend the palace to perhaps an older more refined type of customer!! |

Mr
Check-in quick and efficient. Ask for new room free upgrade they are excellent and not near the railway line at the rear of the hotel. There will be some noise at the weekends otherwise it was OK. The breakfast was great as were all the staff. Alcohol was much too expensive so go elsewhere for a drink. Very central location within 10 to 20 min walk to Arndale and shopping. Would we go here again? Yes definitely |
